Work party new felt on the roof and hut strengthened on the inside

Yet another sterling effort was made on Friday the 28th of April to re-felt the roof of the hut. During the work it was noticed that the hut was in need of diagonal bracing inside to stabilize it! This was also carried out and the task was completed in good time as can be seen in the photos below. Well done to the team – a great effort (More in the newsletter in the members area).

Top Tip – Model Stand

I’d had an idea for a while to make a new model stand having got fed up with bending down and straining to assemble models and was wanting the ability to work on a model at a reasonable height., – So, I was in Aldi yesterday and in their special offers was a bike stand price £29.99. This morning I have a new model stand – check it out.

I had a spare piece of 40mm plastic plumbing pipe so step one was to drill 2 holes in my old stand through which to feed the 40mm pipe. The hole cutter I had was 38mm so produced a very tight fit. I haven’t decided if I need to Araldite or not yet as it seems very firm.

Next – I set aside one of the arms provided and just used the short arm with the quick release coupling to attach to the bike stand as follows:-

and the finished item – sturdy – the height is adjustable and the padded feet have the ability to be pinned (via e.g. tent pegs) to the ground.IMG_2133:- and with model,- but more of this one later.

Xmas Flying Pics

I was flying one afternoon over the Christmas break, when a visitor appeared. A guy called Paul who was on a Caravan Club Rally, staying at Marthall Parish Hall. It turned out he was a past chairman of Deeside Flying Club and was having a look at our site out of interest. We had a nice chat and then I went to the strip. Next thing I know I am having my dubious flying skills photographed and the pics turned up soon after.

Haven’t been down for a while as I’m recovering from a hernia op, but hope to be there in a couple of weeks or so.

All the best for 2017
